Minister of Higher Education Visits TPO
13.12.2020 Al-Rusayl, Muscat, Oman. Takatuf Petrofac Oman (TPO) was pleased to welcome Her Excellency, Dr. Rahma bint Ibrahim Al Mahrouqi, Minister of Higher Education, Scientific Research and Innovation in the Sultanate of Oman. The tour of the state-of-the-art facility, led by Sheikh Khalid bin Ghalib Al Hinai, Advisor to the Minister of Oil and Gas for Human Resources and Sheikh Ibrahim bin Mohammed Al-Harthi, Managing Director Takatuf Oman, allowed Her Excellency to get fully acquainted with the institutes full range of programmes and short courses and the progress of the students thus far.
Her Excellency was accompanied during the visit by Her Excellency Deputy Minister and Undersecretary of Vocational Training, Dr. Mona bint Salem Al-Jardaniya, His Excellency Deputy Minister and Under-Secretary of Higher Education Dr. Bakhit bin Ahmed Al-Mahri, His Excellency Deputy Minister and Undersecretary of Scientific Research and Innovation Dr. Saif bin Abdullah Al-Haddabi, in addition to further members of the Minister’s team.
Mr Ben Holden, Academic Lead of the Foundation Programme, commented that, “It was an honour and a privilege to welcome Her Excellency and the accompanying delegates on a tour around the TPO premises and to able to introduce her to the students currently training in the Foundation Department. Her Excellency enjoyed participating in a student-led lesson where the students eagerly demonstrated their skills using the latest in digital technology in the classroom.”
The tour continued into the technical training area where staff and students were able to showcase TPO’s live plants for oil separation, gas sweetening, utilities and crude distillation which are open to companies in Oman and internationally to train their workforce in an authentic and safe environment.
Mr Scott Malcolm, Internal Quality Assurance Lead, informed the delegation that, “Our locally and internationally accredited programmes have been specifically designed to enhance the competencies of oil and gas trainees, saving their companies not just time but also money as the trainees graduate fully qualified and able to get straight to work. You could see that the visiting delegation were impressed by the work that we are achieving at TPO and I am hopeful that we will achieve further success together in the future.”
Takatuf Petrofac Oman is an oil and gas training institute based in Al-Rusayl, Knowledge Oasis Muscat, specialising in technician training and assessment programmes for electrical, mechanical and instrumentation maintenance and process operations.
