19th April 2021, Madayn - Knowledge Oasis Muscat (KOM): Takatuf Petrofac Oman (TPO) announced that 187 students sponsored by OQ8, have successfully graduated from their specialised courses in Process Operations, Electrical Maintenance, Mechanical Maintenance and Instrumentation.
Mr Andy Morris, General Manager at TPO, congratulated the latest cohort of successful candidates who have graduated from their intensive 18-month training programmes at the state-of-the-art training institute. He stated,
“Today an exceptionally talented and highly motivated group of young Omani men and women have successfully completed a challenging technical training programme at TPO. During their time with us here at TPO they have gained extensive hands-on practical experience of operations and maintenance using TPO’s live plants and we are proud to be able to have witnessed the growth and development of their skills. These professional young people can now go on to make a real first-rate contribution to their workplace. They now not only have the practical skills and experience to hit-the-ground-running at work, but also a suite of internationally accredited qualifications and an ambitious mindset that, I’m sure, will mean they continue to grow, develop and enhance their careers as they contribute to both the success of OQ8 and to the continuing and progressive development of Oman.”
Some of the successful students will now have the opportunity to begin their careers with OQ8 at Duqm Refinery. OQ8 is a joint venture between OQ of Oman and Q8 (Kuwait International Petroleum Company), owned by Kuwait Petroleum Corporation. Together they are building a world-class refinery, petrochemical plant and pipeline mega-project, staffed by a highly-skilled, world-class Omani workforce.
All successful graduates will receive certificates from the Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation in addition to an NVQ Level 2 Diploma in Performing Engineering Operations and IVQ Level 3 Advanced Diploma in Oil and Gas from City & Guilds, the UK-based global leader in vocational skills and development.
